Suggestion: Add more gear filters to the World of Warcraft auction house

Currently the World of Warcraft auction house is pretty decent, there aren’t many major issues with the system itself.  Most of the problems are caused by a small amount of players (people who maliciously undercut to force competition out for example.)

But something I’d like to see implemented is a way to add more filters for secondary stats and/or sockets.  This would help with finding gear that meets specific needs. You could filter exactly what you want instead of looking through tons of listings trying to find it.

Of course I’m not a developer and don’t know exactly what is currently “searchable” as far as secondary stats go..

As for why I’d want this, it’s pretty simple. Often while leveling characters I like to buy some cheap gear for slots not taken up by heirlooms. Usually you can find gear on the auction house that is better than what you get while leveling. Especially since you often get head, chest or shoulder pieces as quest rewards.

It would be nice to be able to put “has gem sockets” as a filter, so I can add gems to get a bit more out of the gear. Or as another example, if I’m building a speed set it would be nice to add a secondary stat like +speed as a filter.

Currently you can go on The Undermine Journal and use their secondary stats page to find gear with +speed etc.  But that’s limited to whenever it updates from Blizzard’s API, which I think is every 30 minutes. You also can’t specifically see listings for gear with sockets.

This could even help sellers as people would be able to find their auctions easier.

Overall it would be a nice, useful addition to the auction house as long as it’s not a lot of work to implement.
